Independent Administration
(Unsupervised Administration).
In this type of administration, after an independent executor or administrator is approved and an inventory of estate assets or an affidavit in lieu of an inventory is filed, the executor or administrator can simply take care of the administration of the estate without any further court involvement or supervision. That is, the executor does not need the court's permission to pay bills or to sell or distribute the assets of the estate. Independent administration avoids the costs and delays associated with a court-supervised estate administration, such as a dependent administration in which the executor or administrator must seek court approval before acting.
